Characteristics

Dioecious tree. Pith of the branchlets without vascular strands. Stipules absent. Inflorescences axillary, together pseudoterminal. Flowers 5-merous. Sepals free. Stamens 5, episepalous, base of the filaments adnate to the disk. Disk 5-lobed, extrastaminal, lobes emarginate. Pistil triangular, 3-celled, in male flowers entirely reduced. Fruits 3-winged, dry, woody, dehiscing with 3 woody valves. Seeds 3, broadly winged. Cotyledons folded, probably entire.
