Spikelets narrowly lanceolate, 10–20 mm. long, yellowish brown, glabrous; lower glume ovate-elliptic, 1/2–2/3 as long as the spikelet; upper glume lanceolate, as long as the spikelet; upper lemma 9–13 mm. long (including lobes), pubescent, bilobed, the lobes 2–5 mm. long and acuminate to a setaceous tip; awn 1.5–3.5 cm. long; callus 2 mm. long..
