Inflorescence of 2–7 racemes on a common axis 1–7 cm. long; racemes 2–6 cm. long, bearing single or paired spikelets, the rhachis and pedicels fringed with copious stiff tubercle-based brown bristles 3–7 mm. long.. Spikelets lanceolate, 3.5–5.5 mm. long, acuminate; lower glume ovate, 1/4 to almost 1/2 as long as the spikelet, acute to acuminate; upper glume glabrous or hispidulous; lower lemma with bristles on the lateral nerves; upper lemma papillose with a mucro 0.5 mm. long.
