Cultivation

Early northern highbush blueberry with excellent eating quality. Origin: Gunma Horticultural Exper-iment Station, Sawa-Azuma, Gunma, Japan, by M. Horigome, T. Okada, M. Hatakeyama, I. Kenmochi, M. Satou, and T. Nakajoh. O.P. seed of Collins and Coville collected 1987; selected 1991; tested as GBC-1; introd. 2004. Registered as No.11722 by the Seedlings Law of Japan. Tree: medium vigor; spreading. Fruit: medium, ~1.6 g; round; blue; calyx end large and shallow in depth; scar medium and wet; ripens early (early July in Japan); soft; medium sweetness and high acidity; edible quality is excellent.
