Northern highbush. Selected at Elk River, Minn., from the cross B15 (G-65 × Ashworth) × Bluetta; tested as MN408; released in 1996 by the Univ. of Minnesota. Origin: Tree: upright; slightly smaller than Bluetta, but taller and less spreading than Northblue; reaches 1.3 m in height and spread; highly self-unfruitful and must be planted with other varieties for cross-pollination; yield equal to Northblue. Fruit: size medium; light blue; scar moderately small; very firm; excellent flavor; ripens early. Flowers at about the same time as Bluetta and about 5 days earlier than Bluecrop.
