Cultivation

Early-season southern highbush with crunchy, sweet fruit and unique sweet flavor, suited to evergreen culture inside and outside plastic tunnels. Origin: Mountain Blue Orchards, New South Wales, Australia, by R. Bell. Ridley 1403 × Ridley 4609; crossed 2011; selected 2014; tested as M14-16-02. USPP 31,605; 31 Mar. 2020. Tree: growth habit round with whippy canes; very vigorous and tough; fruits deep down along laterals; leaves large; yields high, 9 kg/bush on 3-year bushes; blooms early; bloom fair; self-fertile; propagation by softwood cuttings or tissue culture. Fruit: 2-3 g; very crisp; picking scar small, dry; flavor sweet, aromatic; acidity medium; ripens early; suitable for fresh market; suitable for hybrid harvester and fast hand harvest.
