Characteristics

Shrubs evergreen, rarely small trees, 1–5 m tall, occasionally epiphytic, sparsely branched, glabrous. Twigs terete, slender, slightly flexuous; bud scales inconspicuous. Leaves scattered; petiole 1–2 mm, stout; leaf blade ovate-lanceolate, 9–19 × 2.5–5.5 cm, leathery, secondary veins 5–9, fine veins raised abaxially, impressed adaxially, base rounded to subcordate, margin slightly revolute or not, entire, basal glands absent, apex long acuminate or caudate. Inflorescences racemose, (3–)7–15 cm, many flowered; bracts caducous, ca. 1 mm. Pedicel 0.6–1.5 cm. Hypanthium ca. 0.6 mm; calyx lobes triangular, ca. 1 mm. Corolla yellow-green, tinged with purple, campanulate, 6–7 mm; lobes reflexed, ovate-triangular, ca. 2 mm. Filaments 1.5–3 mm, densely pubescent; anthers ca. 4 mm, with 2 spreading spurs; tubules 1.5–2 × as long as thecae. Berry 10-pseudoloculed, ca. 6 mm in diam. Fl. Apr–May, fr. Jun–Nov.
