Characteristics

Leaves alternate, 1-foliolate; petiole 3–10 mm. long, grooved above; leaflet-lamina 4–12·5 × 1–3·2 cm., narrowly elliptic, ± papyraceous, acuminate, dotted with very minute pellucid glands, acute or blunt at the apex, cuneate at the base; nerves and veins rather fine.

Male flowers: stamens 8; filaments flattened at the base, those opposite the petals shorter; anthers 0·5 mm, long, 2-lobed at the base; disk inconspicuous; vestigial ovary pilose with 2 densely setigerous styles.
Inflorescence of axillary panicles up to 3 cm. long; bracts and bracteoles very small, caducous; flowers 4-merous, unisexual, dioecious, pale yellowish; pedicels 2·5 mm. long, very slender.
Evergreen shrub, 0·7 m. tall; young branches minutely puberulous, the older ones glabrous.
Sepals 4, united into a short-lobed cupuliform calyx 0·5–0·7 mm. long.
Petals 4, 2·6 × 1·3 mm., slightly imbricate, elliptic.
