Characteristics

Evergreen tree 6–15 m. high, sometimes branching about 1 m. from the base; bark smooth and grey.. Leaves alternate, trifoliolate; petiole 2–5(–8) cm. long, subterete, narrowly grooved above, glabrous; petiolules 3–15 mm. long; leaflets oblanceolate to elliptic, 8–14(–17) cm. long, 2.5–6 cm. broad, shortly acuminate and blunt at the apex, cuneate at the base, entire, coriaceous, glabrous; midrib prominently raised beneath; pellucid gland dots small, numerous and sometimes inconspicuous.. Inflorescence of axillary and terminal racemes or panicles, or sometimes on older branches, 3–8 cm. long, glabrous or occasionally puberulent.. Flowers unisexual; pedicels 2–7 mm. long.. Sepals 4, 0.5–1 mm. long, partly united.. Petals 4, oblong or ovate–oblong, 1.8–3 mm. long, 1–1.8 mm. broad.. Male flower: stamens 6–8 (usually 8), 2–5 mm. long, variable in length even on the same flower; rudimentary ovary glabrous or puberulent..
