Standard with two L-or U-shaped appendages, with each appendage sometimes reduced to the lateral part of the L or U; keel with a marked beak (c. 3 mm long), twisted towards the right.
Calyx pubescent or hairy; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 1–3 mm long, deltate, the lower one as long or slightly longer than the laterals, upper lip slightly bifid.
Flower blue to purple, 10–16 mm long; pedicel 1.5–7 mm long, expanding as the pod matures; bracteoles 3–11 mm long, linear, 1-nerved.
Peduncle 5–26 cm × 0.5–1.5 mm, pubescent; rhachis 1.2–7 cm long, 4–10-noded, internodes 2–5 mm long, rarely up to 9 mm long.
Pod 3.5–5 cm × 5–6 mm, linear cylindrical, curved, hairy, with a short curved beak.
Seed c. 5 × 3.5 × 3 mm thick; hilum central, small rim aril.
Stem sparsely pilose to velvety hairy.
Climbing perennial herb.
Ovary 5–9-ovuled.
