Plant to 5 cm tall. Leaves 2, rarely 3; lower 2 leaves basal, similar, narrowly lanceolate or linear, 1.5-7 mm wide; 3rd leaf, when present, well above lower 2, with lamina dilated or inconspicuous, narrow and bract-like. Inflorescence open, erect or procumbent, especially in fruit; flowers 1-5, bisexual. Perianth 5-6 mm long; tepals 6, connate for 1/4-1/2 of length, white, sometimes pink-tinged with age; nectary 1 per tepal c. 1/3 from base, a transverse band, sometimes curved distally at middle, not raised when fresh though appearing so when dried, white. Stamens 1/2-3/4 as long as perianth; anthers 0.5-0.8 mm long, red. Styles free.
Grows in shrubland, woodland and forest, in sandy, clayey and rocky soils, often seasonally wet.
