Erect or decumbent. Flowering culms 20–50 cm high, 4–9-noded. Leaf blades 2–12 cm long, 1.5–2 mm wide, glabrous. Inflorescence branches 3–5, 5–6 cm long. Glumes of bisexual florets unequal in length, scaberulous on surface and keel; lower glume 1.3–1.7 mm long; upper glume 2.3–2.7 mm long. Basal lemma 2.3–2.7 mm long, acute, distinctly lobed, long-hairy on keel and submargins; awn 1–2 mm long. Caryopsis abortive. Incomplete floret 1.0 mm long, with awn 0.6 mm long.
