Characteristics

Small or medium tree 5–15(–20) m. high.. Young branchlets puberulous or shortly pubescent.. Leaves: petiole 3–10 cm. long; pinnae 8–18 cm. long; leaflets 4–9 pairs, 3.5–10 cm. long, 1.5–4.5 cm. wide, obovate-elliptic to oblong or ovate, narrowed or shortly acuminate at apex, obtuse rounded or subacute at base and usually very shortly narrowed into the petiole, glabrous above, very shortly and sparsely puberulous or subglabrous beneath, or the midrib pubescent.. Flowers white, in heads on 2–4 cm. long peduncles; pedicels thick, inconspicuous and extremely short, 1–1.5 mm. long or less.. Calyx silky-puberulous on the lobes, otherwise sparingly hairy or almost glabrous, 2.5 mm. long.. Corolla 3–3.5 mm. long; lobes silky-pubescent outside.. Pods oblong or more usually obliquely obovate-oblong or obovate, narrowed at base, obtuse or rounded at apex, 9–13 cm. long, 5.5–6 cm. wide.. Seeds 16–17 mm. long, 10 mm. wide, glossy.
