Characteristics

Small annual attaining 30 cm. in height, very similar to the previous species, but differing in the smooth (not rugulose) sheaths and laminas, in the incurved, obtuse, sometimes mucronate (not straight and aristate) lamina and peduncle-sheath apices, and in the more strongly keeled emarginate and apiculate fertile bracts..
