Characteristics

Annual herb, stem 5-17 mm tall, solitary (but clearly will branch from base later), simple, pubescent with patent mainly glandular hairs up to c. 0.7 mm long, leafy. Leaves: radical leaves in 1 or 2 pairs, blade c. 2.5-7 x 2-3.7 mm, ovate or elliptic-ovate tapering into a broad flat petiolar part 2-5 mm long (somewhat shorter than blade), cauline leaves c. 3-6 x 1.2-2.5 mm, lanceolate-elliptic tapering to a short petiolar part, margins of all leaves obscurely to distinctly toothed, both surfaces with acute hairs up to 1 mm long plus glandular hairs to c. 0.5 mm. Flowers 1-5 in a congested terminal spike, open in sunshine. Bracts adnate to calyx for c. 4 mm, lowermost c. 8-14 x 2-2.2 mm, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, margins with 1 or 2 pairs of tiny teeth, both surfaces densely pubescent with acute hairs up to 1.5 mm long, some glandular hairs to 0.8 mm. Calyx c. 5-6 mm long, lips c. 3 mm long, densely pubescent all over with acute hairs up to 1.2 mm long. Corolla tube 22-27 mm long (throat c. 2 mm in diam.), very minutely and sparsely glandular-pubescent, limb c. 10-12 mm in diam., almost regular, mouth bearded with long clavate hairs extending to base of lobes, lobes c. 3.5-5 x 3-4.3 mm, elliptic, yellow above with a median orange bar, purple below. Stamens 4, anticous pair exserted, anthers 0.6-0.9 mm long, posticous pair included, anthers 1.4-1.7 mm long. Stigma c. 2 mm long, shortly exserted? Style c. 20-22 mm long. Ovary c. 2.5-3 x 0.8 mm. Capsules not seen.
