Annual herb, primary stem 5-100 mm tall, simple or branching once or twice at the base, branches sharply ascending, pubescent with retrorse acute hairs up to 0.25-0.5 mm long, minutely glandular as well, scapose. Leaves in 2 to several pairs, crowded at base of plant, blade c. 2-15 x 1.3-15 mm, ovate to elliptic tapering to a flat petiolar part c. 1-10 mm long (roughly a half to two thirds as long as blade), apex subacute, margins entire to rather obscurely denticulate, glabrous dorsally or a few hairs on the midline, thinly pubescent ventrally, hairs acute, up to 0.7-1 mm long. Flowers open in sunshine, up to c. 15 crowded in a terminal head, either remaining congested in fruit or the lowermost few capsules distant. Bracts adnate to calyx for 3-7.5 mm, lowermost 5.5-17 x 1-4 mm, linear-lanceolate to oblong, usually entire, occasionally with a pair of minute teeth, pubescent on both surfaces, hairs acute, often sparse on dorsal face, lowermost short and ± retrorse, up to 0.7-1.5 mm on margins. Calyx 3.6-8 mm long, lips 0.5-1.5 mm long, pubescent particularly on the ribs, Hairs acute, up to 0.7-1.5 mm long. Corolla tube 6-8.5 mm long (throat c. 0.8-1 mm in diam.), minutely glandular-puberulous particularly on upperpart, limb c. 3-5 mm in diam., nearly regular, mouth encircled by relatively long clavate hairs, lobes 1-1.8 x 0.7-1.2 mm, elliptic, usually entire, rarely one or two lobes retuse, rose-pink, yellow in throat, but apparently no pattern on lobes. Stamens 2 (the posticous pair), anthers 0.5-0.8 mm long, included or tips visible in mouth. Stigma c. 1-1.5 mm long, either exserted or ± included and attached to anthers. Style c. 2.5-4.5 mm long. Ovary c. 2-2.5 x 0.8 mm. Capsules 5.5-8 x 2-3 mm. Seeds c. 0.5-0.8 x 0.5 mm, obscurely angled, colliculate, pallid.
