Characteristics

Annual herb, stem 4-40 mm tall, often simple, sometimes with a pair of branches near base, occasionally a second pair higher up the stem, branches decumbent, pubescent with patent glandular hairs up to 0.4-0.5 mm long, occasional acute hairs as well up to 0.4-0.8 mm long, often leafy mainly at the base and then with a pair of leaves immediately below the inflorescence. Leaf blade c. 2-10 x 1.5-6 mm, ovate-elliptic to elliptic tapering into a broad flat petiolar part 0.5-7 mm long (often ± half as long as blade, sometimes nearly equalling it), subacute, margins entire to rather obscurely toothed, hairy mainly on the petiolar part and midrib on dorsal face, acute hairs up to 1.8 mm long, glandular to 0.8 mm. Flowers 1-4 in a crowded terminal spike, open in sunshine. Bracts adnate to calyx for 3-3.5 mm, lowermost c. 11-12 x 1.8-2.5 mm, ± oblong, ± obtuse, margins entire to obscurely few-toothed, acute hairs up to 1-1.5 mm long almost confined to lower margins, glandular hairs up to 0.4-0.8 mm long on dorsal midline. Calyx c. 4.5-6 mm long, lips 2.2-3 mm long, pubescent with acute hairs up to 0.8-1.5 mm long. Corolla tube c. 10 mm long (1-1.2 mm diam. in throat), very minutely and sparsely glandular, limb c. 6 mm in diam., regular, mouth encircled by long acute hairs, lobes 2.5-3 x 1-1.8 mm, oblong, apex rounded, yellow above, brown below. Stamens 4, anticous pair exserted, anthers 0.4-0.6 mm long, posticous pair included, anthers 0.6-0.8 mm long. Stigma c. 1.5 mm long, exserted. Style 4.5-7 mm long. Ovary c. 2 x 0.6 mm. Capsules (immature) 6 x 2.5 mm. Seeds immature.
