Annual herb, primary stem 60-150 mm tall, erect, solitary and simple, or branching from the base and above, branches sharply ascending, pubescent with acute retrorse hairs up to 0.5-1 mm long, leafy and often with axillary leaf tufts (incipient branches). Leaves: radical in one or two pairs, blade c. 10-15 x 4-7 mm, ovate to elliptic-ovate, subentire, tapering into a broad flat petiolar part c. 5-8 mm long (roughly half as long as blade), primary cauline leaves c. 13-25 x 1.5-6 mm, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, acute, Base narrowed, margins denticulate, both surfaces thinly villous, hairs acute, up to 1-1.5 mm long. Flowers c. 10 in a compact terminal head not elongating in fruit, often cleistogamous. Bracts adnate to calyx for 5.5-7 mm, lowermost c. 10-14 x 1.75-2.5 mm, linear-oblong, ± acute, entire, acute hairs up to 1.5-2 mm long on margins, shortly pubescent on backs, hairs ± retrorse. Calyx c. 5.5-8 mm long, lips c. 1 mm long, puberulous all over. Corolla tube (of chasmogamous flowers) c. 7.5-9 mm long (throat c. 1 mmin diam.), very minutely glandular-puberulous especially at apex, limb c. 3.5 mm in diam, almost regular, mouth glabrous, lobes c. 1-1.2 x 0.5-0.7 mm, slightly broadened at tips, colour unknown but probably white or yellow. Stamens 4, anticous pair scarcely exserted (included in cleistogamous flowers), anthers 0.3-0.5 mm long, posticous pair included, anthers 0.6-0.8 mm long. Stigma c. 3 mm long, shortly exserted in chasmogamous flowers. Style c. 6 mm long. Ovary c. 2.5 x 0.8 mm. Capsules 6-7 x 2.5-3 mm. Seeds c. 0.7-0.8 x 0.4-0.5 mm, obscurely angled, colliculate, pallid.
