Leaves strongly ascending; blade elliptic or oblanceolate, 30-70 x 5-18 mm, narrowed into a petiole-like base. Flowers: in a terminal spike, elongating in fruit; corolla tube (36-)40-60 mm long, mouth with thick circlet of unicellular hairs; corolla with tube up to 60 mm long, limb regular, held horizontally, mouth with thick ring, or part of ring long hairs, lobes with inner surface glabrous or glandular (especially in lower half), outer surface crimson, inner surface white inside; Oct.-Mar, opening at dusk or in dull light.
