Leaves 15–37 cm. long; rhachis with upcurved prickles 1–3 mm. long; petiolule (0–)0.5–2 mm. or rarely to 13 mm. on the terminal leaflet; leaflets 5–11 pairs, subopposite below, progressively more opposite above, oblong or elliptic-oblong to obovate-oblong, 5–13 cm. long, 2–3.5 cm. broad, caudate or acuminate at the apex, cuneate and somewhat oblique at the base, crenate, papyraceous, glabrous; midrib prominent and occasionally armed beneath.. Inflorescence of terminal panicles up to 17 cm. long, glabrous.. Flowers whitish green, imperfectly known.. Fruit of paired rhomboid follicles 8–10 mm. long, 6–7 mm. in diameter, with a common stipe but individually sessile, frequently one of the pair rudimentary.. Seed 4–5 mm. in diameter, shiny black.
