Characteristics

Erect, rigid shrub to 5 m high. Leaves 2–4-whorled; lamina lanceolate, lanceolate-elliptic, elliptic-obovate, to 65 mm long, to 27 mm wide, cuneate, weakly revolute, acute or short-to long-acuminate, pungent-pointed, coriaceous, discolorous; secondary venation ±obscure. Inflorescence much reduced and congested, to 5 mm long; floral bracts lanceolate to lanceolate-ovate. Flowers 6–11 mm long, 3–17 mm diam.; pedicels 0.8–1 mm long. Sepals lanceolate to lanceolate-ovate, 1.2–5 mm long. Corolla cream; tube 5–11 mm long, 1–2 mm diam.; lobes lanceolate to obovate, 2–7.5 mm long, 1–2.5 mm wide. Stamens inserted 1.8–5 mm from top of tube; anthers 0.6–1.5 mm long, 0.2–0.5 mm wide. Fruit with 1–3 articles; articles globose to ellipsoidal-globose, 8–20 mm long, 5–15 mm diam., orange-red when ripe.
