Flowering stalks 18-40 cm long, usually twice as long as leaves; heads loose. Sepals 3-5.5 mm long. Petals 7.5-9.5 mm long, purple to light blue; wings unequal, 0.2-1.2 mm wide. Ovary usually 3.5-6.5 mm long; style 4-5 mm long; indusium glabrous. Fruit 8-12 mm long; seeds 11-15 pairs.
