Evergreen, terrestrial orchids with erect, slender, fibrous stems; and spreading, tubercle-bearing roots. Leaves sessile, spirally arranged, narrow, smooth or plicate. Inflorescence terminal on the stem, paniculate. Flowers non-resupinate, nearly actinomorphic, opening widely, starry. Sepals and petals free, similar in size and shape (petals generally narrower). Column vestigial; fertile stamens 2, attached near column base by short filaments; staminode present or absent; style erect. Pollen free in separate grains. Capsules cylindrical, slender.
