Herb to 120 cm. tall.. Tuber subglobose, up to 8 cm. in diameter.. Leaves usually 2; petioles with basal sheaths imbricate, forming pseudostem to ± 75 cm. tall, free apical part 7–25 cm. long, green; blade radiately divided to base, circular in outline; leaflets 5–10(–12), subequal in size, lanceolate, elliptic or oblanceolate, acuminate, base cuneate, 7–19 cm. long, 1.5–6.5 cm. broad, margins irregularly erose-serrate, teeth rarely long-acuminate and then only irregularly so, sometimes almost entire.. Inflorescence overtopping leaves; free part of peduncle 11–24 cm. long, green.. Spathe 9–19 cm. long; tube broadly and shortly cylindric, slightly constricted apically, 3.5–7 cm. long, 2.3–3.5 cm. in diameter, outer surface green with white longitudinal stripes; limb ovate, acuminate, longer than tube (sometimes more than twice as long), 6–11.5 cm. long, 2.8–5.3 cm. broad, white on outer surface, white and green-striped on inner surface near base, bent forwards over mouth of tube.. Spadix bearing flowers of only one sex, 4.3–6.8 cm. long, subequal to spathe-tube; sterile appendix cylindric, conic or clavate, sometimes narrowed at base, 2–3.8 cm. long, 0.3–0.5 cm. in diameter, green; staminate spadix with naked basal stipe 0.5–1 cm. long, fertile part cylindric, 1.7–2.5 cm. long, 0.4–0.7 cm. in diameter, flowers ± densely congested; pistillate spadix ± sessile, fertile part cylindric to conic, 2.7–3.5 cm. long, 1–1.5 cm. in diameter, flowers densely congested..
