Characteristics

Rhizome short-to long-creeping. Sterile and fertile fronds ±similar (sterile and fertile pinnae sometimes on same frond), pendulous, 17-81 cm long, 7-26 cm wide. Stipe 7-42 cm long, stramineous, sometimes with blackish patches; scales usually ovate, entire, pale brown to reddish brown, papery or membranous. Lamina ovate to deltoid, pinnate, with 2-12 pairs of pinnae; rachis and costae stramineous, sometimes with blackish patches, glabrous; sterile pinnae mostly lanceolate, acuminate, 5-15 cm long, 7-24 mm wide, shortly stalked; margins crenate, becoming serrate at apices; basal pinnae similar; fertile pinnae usually slightly narrower. Spores 60 × 44 µm wide; perine verrucose, fenestrate; exine smooth.
