Characteristics

Rhizome erect, to 30 cm tall. Stipe with tubercles. Fronds not dimorphic. Lamina pinnate, 35-61 cm long, 8.5-25 cm wide; apical lobe c. one-ninth or less of lamina length. Pinnae simple, all except lowest 2-6 pairs completely adnate to rachis; longest pinnae 4.5-13 cm long, 7-15 mm wide; rachis sometimes with tubercles; pinna midvein without tubercles. Sori 0.5-2.5 mm long, 0.5-2 mm wide, discrete, rarely contiguous when mature, 1 row and sometimes fragments of a second row on each side of pinna midvein; inner row of sori adjacent to pinna midvein; outer row, if present, usually mid-way between pinna midvein and margin or nearer to former.
