Characteristics

Leaves: cauline opposite or alternate, 5.5–6 x 2–2.5 mm., ovate-elliptic, obtuse, entire, pilose, 1-nerved; basal leaves 8–18 x 4–8(10) mm., entire, circular to broadly ovate, 3–5-nerved, margins somewhat thickened.

Corolla blue or mauve; tube 6.5–7.5 mm. long, pubescent without, long pilose at throat; limb 3–5 mm. in diam.; lobes 2–3 x 1–1.5 mm., obovate, rounded.
Calyx 4.5–6 mm. long, 5-lobed, nervation obscured by indumentum being finely pilose-pubescent; lobes 0.8–1.5 mm. long, lanceolate, pilose, ciliate.
Annual or perennial herbs up to 8 cm. tall; stems several from rootstock, erect, loosely long-patent pilose.
Bracts (3.8)4.5–6 x (1.5)1.75–3.5 mm., broadly ovate-lanceolate, somewhat concave, finely pilose-pubescent.
Inflorescence of few-flowered short spikes about 1 cm. long; flowers sessile.
