Leaves: cauline mostly opposite, 25–45 x 3–4 mm., linear to linear-oblong, mucronate; basal leaves densely clustered, (20–30)35–45 x (5.5)7–12 mm., oblong to oblong-ovate, obtuse, mucronate, (2)3-nerved.

Annual herbs, up to c. 18 cm. tall; stems erect, subsimple, with small leafy branches arising in axils of cauline leaves, quadrangular, hispid-scabrid.
Spikes immature, 10–12x10 mm., ovoid, not obviously with remote flowers at base, but occasionally with flowers appearing in axils of upper leaves.
Corolla colour unknown; tube barely 9 mm. long, hispid above; limb. c. 5 mm. in diam.; lobes c. 3 mm. long, 2.5 mm. wide, obovate, obtuse.
Calyx c. 8.5 mm. long, 9–10-nerved, hispid-scabrid, 5-lobed; lobes c. 1.5 mm. long, short-subulate.
Bracts 4–5 mm. long, lanceolate, acute, hispid-scabrid.
