Characteristics

Leaves: basal in dense rosettes, up to 6 x 2.5 cm., at times equalling stems, lanceolate to obovate-lanceolate, entire, 5-nerved, glabrous above, shortly appressed-hispid only on prominent major nerves beneath, not drying black; stem leaves 4–6.5 x 1,6–3 mm., elliptic or ovate-elliptic, shortly hispid, hispid-ciliate on margin, opposite or subopposite.

Corolla dark blue to purple; tube 7–10 mm. long, cylindric, glabrous without, throat pilose; limb 5–7.5 mm. in diam.; lobes 2–5 x 1–1.8 mm., unequal, obovate.
Calyx 6–7 mm. long, 5-lobed, obscurely 10-nerved, hispid on nerves only or glabrous, lobes 1–1.5 mm. long, triangular, not spreading after flowering.
Perennial herb 2.5–4.5(10) cm. tall; stems many arising from a short woody base, 1.5–4.5(10) cm. long, subterete, glabrous to sparsely hispid.
Inflorescence spicate with terminal spikes, c. 1 cm. long, few-flowered increasing to c. 3 cm. long at flowering with flowers lax.
