Characteristics

Spreading shrub, to 1 m high. Twigs slender, hairy; hairs dense, simple, to 1 mm long. Spines acicular, straight, spreading, 6–8 mm long. Leaves ovate, acute, 22–27 mm long; base rounded; midrib somewhat raised; 4 or 5 pairs of veins; margin recurved, undulate; petiole 1–2 mm long. Inflorescence solitary, axillary; pedicels 8–10 mm long. Sepals 5–7 mm long, the outer pair hairy outside. Petals ovate, c. 12 mm long, shortly clawed, pubescent at base, white. Stamens c. 30. Gynophore filiform, c. 11 mm long, glabrous; ovary ellipsoidal, c. 2.5 mm long, glabrous; placentas 5. Fruit unknown.
