Woody climber to the tops of trees; densely hairy with simple, appressed hairs. Branches straight, glabrescent. Leaves ovate to subrhombic, obtuse, 6–10 cm long, 4–7 cm wide, glabrescent, glossy above; base subacute; midrib shallowly sulcate near base; veins 6–7 pairs; petiole 7–35 mm long, weak. Flowers solitary, axillary. Sepals c. 25–35 mm long, outer pair puberulous. Petals c. 4.5 cm long. Stamens many. Gynophore 6.5–7.5 cm long, glabrous; ovary ellipsoidal, c. 10 mm long. Fruit ovoid, 6–10 cm long, 4–6 cm wide, smooth or with 8–10 weak ribs at base. Seeds several; axis through attachment c. 9 mm long.
