Characteristics

Shrub, hairy with simple, appressed hairs. Spines spreading, slightly recurved, 1–2.5 mm long, or straight, 4 mm long. Leaves linear, acute or mucronate; 1.7–5.3 cm long, 2–9 mm wide; base obtuse to cuneate; midrib shallowly sunken; veins 5–6 pairs, slightly prominent; margins sometimes recurved; petiole 0.5–1.5 mm long. Flowers solitary or collateral in pairs, axillary. Sepals c. 5–6 mm long, glabrous. Petals 8–9 mm long, with some hairs inside, white. Stamens 16–20. Gynophore 13–15 mm long, glabrous; ovary ellipsoidal, 2 mm long, glabrous; placentas ?3. Fruit not seen, globular 2.5–4 cm long, wrinkled.
