Characteristics

Culms 3–24 cm high. Leaf blades flat, 1.3–5.5 cm long, 1–2.6 mm wide, with smooth margins, acute or blunt and rounded, adaxially minutely scabrous on veins, abaxially glabrous. Inflorescences narrowly oblong, 1.5–6.5 cm long; peduncles glabrous. Spikelets 4.7–8.5 mm long; bisexual florets imbricate to tip. Glumes: lower glume 1.9–3.4 mm long, 3-nerved; upper glume 2.1–3 mm long, 3 or 5-nerved, with midnerve glabrous. Basal lemma 2.4–3.4 mm long. Palea slightly thinner in texture than lemma. Caryopsis 0.6–0.8 mm wide.
