Cultivation

Origin: in Bari, Province of Puglia, Italy. Introd. into the U.S. in 1930 by Carl Grantham, Rialto, Calif. Discovered in ancient times. Tree: male; blooms very heavily, but too late to pollinate some early blooming, pistillate varieties. An old variety commonly grown on the Adriatic Coast under various names. Fruit: none produced.
