Characteristics

Rootstock producing a tuber. Tuber 25-30 mm diam., depressed. Stem solitary, annual, herbaceous, erect, 0.12-0.2 m long, glabrous. Leaves in 5-6 pairs, erect, lower small, upper linear-filiform, up to about 30 x 1 mm. Flowers solitary, lateral from upper nodes and terminal, erect; pedicel 25-30 mm long. Sepals subulate, ±6 mm long. Corolla 75-95 mm long; tube ±35 mm long, with inflated base about 4 mm diam., narrowed to 2 mm above and 3 mm at throat, glabrous, striped with purple-brown and white outside, pilose with purple hairs within; lobes free, erectly spreading, linear-lanceolate, with expanded tips, resembling antennae of a butterfly, 50-60 mm long, with base lanceolate, bearded with purple hairs, filiform and glabrous above, with tips dilated into small knobs, slightly notched at apex and grooved on each side of a keel on inner face. Corona blackish violet; outer lobes forming 5 pockets with outer margin laterally toothed, ciliate; inner lobes linear, acute, incumbent-erect-reflexed, overtopping staminal column.
