Perennial herb. Tuber up to 100 mm diam., depressed and often with slightly concave central area. Stems 1-few, 70-300 mm high, branched above, usually densely puberulous with minute, decurved hairs. Leaves linear to ovate, 5-15(-20) mm long, flat or folded upwards, margin straight or undulate, puberulous or sometimes glabrous on upper surface. Flowers (1)2(-few) at nodes; pedicels 2-5 mm long; sepals lanceolate, about 1.5 mm long. Corolla from white to maroon, with cylindric beak in bud, 5-25 mm long, divided nearly to base, minutely spreading-puberulous outside, glabrous within; united part flattish to saucer-shaped, very rarely shortly tubular, up to 3 mm long; lobes united at tips, linear to filiform. Corona with outer lobes shorter or longer than staminal column, variably divided, sometimes nearly to base, into 4.2 mm ear to subulate lobules or teeth, with or without few hairs; inner lobes incumbent on staminal column, sometimes meeting over centre. Pollinia subpyriform with short, translucent inner margin, attached by short, slender caudicles to carrier.
