Characteristics

Perennial herb. Tuber ±50 mm diam. Stems 1-few, up to about 100 mm tall, sparsely branched, densely puberulous with spreading or deflexed hairs. Leaves linear to linear-lanceolate, narrowed into a short petiole, margins ± folded upwards, somewhat harshly puberulous on lower surface, glabrous above, minutely ciliate on margin. Flowers 2-4, extra-axillary; pedicels ±5 mm long, puberulous. Corolla ±10 mm long, glabrous, yellow with transverse bands of purple-brown within and purple-brown on lobes; tube campanulate, about 3 mm long; lobes linear-lanceolate, ±7 mm long, somewhat twisted, with recurved margins. Corona ±2.5 mm high, united at base, campanulate, forming 5 pockets with outer margin bifid, confluent laterally with margin of inner lobes; inner lobes linear, incumbent on backs of filaments. Pollinia oblong-orbicular, ±4 mm long, with a translucent wing on upper inner margin, attached by short caudicles to wingless carrier.

Leaves linear to linear-lanceolate, 25 x 2.0-4.2 mm, attenuating into short petioles, margins folded upward; lower surface harshly puberulous, glabrous above, margins ciliate. Flowers 1-4, extra axillary; pedicel 4-5 mm long. Corolla: petals fused into small campanulate tube ± 3 mm long; lobes rotate, spreading, linear-lanceolate, attenuate towards apex. Gynostegial column compressed and discoid. Corona: interstaminal corona lobes fused into 5 deeply cleft pockets that are contiguous to staminal corona lobes; inner circumgynostegial trough filled with hairs. Flowering time Nov., Dec., May.
