Characteristics

Rootstock producing a cluster of fibrous to fleshy roots. Stem subsucculent, twining, up to 2 m or more tall, glabrous. Leaves somewhat fleshy, drying thin; petiole 10-15 mm long; blade ± oblong to ovate-lanceolate, cuspidate, up to 75 x 50 mm. Flowers 1-2(-few), pedunculate; peduncle up to 35 mm long, glabrous; pedicels 8-16 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, up to 12 mm long. Corolla up to 50 mm long; tube 25-30 mm long, with slightly globose base and curved upward nearly at right angles, cylindric and expanding to 15-20 mm at mouth, glabrous outside, hairy at base and throat within; lobes broadly deltoid-ovate at base. Corona cupular, extending into 5 acutely bifid, ciliate outer lobes equal in height to staminal column; inner lobes incumbent-erect, linear-spathulate, about 3 mm long, obtuse.
