Characteristics

Small, perennial geophyte. Stems 1-3, erect, branched at base, 50-150 mm high, softly hairy. Leaves oblong to oblong-elliptic, 7-30 x 5-8 mm, pubescent, almost sessile. Flowers 2-5, erect and hidden amongst suberect leaves; pedicels 2-5 mm long. Corolla cage-like; tube short, ± 5 mm deep, 4-5 mm wide at mouth; lobes linear-filiform, margins recurved, 12-20 mm long, connivent over gynostegial column, joined apically; glabrous inside, puberulous outside. Corona: interstaminal corona lobes fused basally into a tube, free above, apically bifid or deeply 2-lobuled; staminal corona lobes linear, inflexed on backs of anthers; circumgynostegial trough hairy or glabrous. Leaves oblong, oblong-elliptic or subfalcate, subsessile, 7-30 mm long, up to 8 mm broad, pubescent. Flowers 2-5 together; pedicels 2-5 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, 2-4 mm long. Corolla 15-25 mm long, shortly tubular; tube up to about 5 mm long, 4 mm wide at mouth; lobes united at tips, 12-20 mm long, linear-filiform with recurved margins, puberulous outside, glabrous within. Corona tubular at base, producing 5 outer lobes, bifid or deeply 2-lobuled, glabrous or with few hairs; inner lobes incumbent on backs of anthers.
