Characteristics

Perennial herb. Tuber 30-50 mm diam. Stems 1-2, up to about 0.45 m tall, with basal internodes up to 0.1 m long, branched above with single, alternating branches from nodes. Leaves shortly petiolate, ovate to ovate-cordate, about 15 x 7.5 mm, shortly pubescent below, glabrous above except for few hairs sometimes near margin. Flowers solitary; pedicel about 2 mm long. Sepals linear-lanceolate, about 3 mm long, with minute lobules within sinuses. Corolla ±45 mm long with long slender beak, lobed almost to base; lobes united at tips, filiform, 0.5 mm broad, contiguous except for basal 10 mm. Corona with 5 outer lobes deeply divided into 2 lobules which are 1 mm long, curved and slightly capitate, with few curved hairs; inner lobes oblong-elliptic, 2.25 mm long, erect and considerably overtopping staminal column. Follicles linear-fusiform, up to 90 mm long, diverging at 180° or recurving, smooth, mottled.
