Characteristics

Perennial herb. Tuber ±50 mm diam., depressed. Stem single, erect, sparingly to freely branched, 80-120 mm tall, slightly flexuose on flowering part, reddish, minutely pubescent. Leaves linear to linear-filiform, 15-25 x 1-3 mm, tapering to base with little or no petiole, with few minute hairs on midrib below and on margin or glabrescent, margin sometimes revolute. Flowers 1-10 together on both sides of nodes and terminal; pedicels ±10 mm long, slender, puberulous. Sepals lanceolate, ±2 mm long. Corolla yellow to maroon, rotate, shortly united at base; tube about 1 mm deep around base of corona; lobes free, ± lanceolate, ±3 mm long, with reflexed margins. Corona yellow, cup-shaped below, forming 5 pockets with margin extending into 2 teeth, sometimes giving effect of 10 erect teeth overtopping staminal column; inner lobes arising from within tube, subulate, incumbent on backs of anthers, sometimes marked with green and white. Pollinia ovoid, pellucid on inner margin, attached at base by short caudicles to small carrier.

Corolla rotate, united at base into a shallow tube 1 mm deep (enclosing gynostegial column, yellow to maroon; lobes lanceolate, ± 3 mm long, margins reflexed. Corona yellow; interstaminal corona lobes fused into a tube overtopping the inner column, upper outer edges produced into erect tubular teeth, with 10 of these appendages arranged along rim; staminal corona lobes fused to base of corona tube, narrowly ligulate to subulate, apex pointed, incumbent on backs of anthers, marked green and white.
