Characteristics

Perennial herb. Tuber ±50 mm diam., slightly compressed. Stem 1(2), sparsely branched from the base, spreading-decum-bent, 50-100 mm long, shortly pubescent with curved hairs; internodes 5-10 mm long. Leaves petiolate; blade obovate to ovate-elliptic, 15-20 mm long, 10-15 mm broad, pubescent on both surfaces or only on lower, flat or folded upwards; petiole ±5 mm long. Flowers (1)2-4 lateral at nodes, developed in succession; pedicels slender, 10-15 mm long, pubescent. Sepals linear-lanceolate, 2-4 mm long, pubescent. Corolla ±4.5 mm long, 9-10 mm diam., divided to base, rotate; tube short, closely surrounding base of corona; base flat, pubescent on outer surface, upper surface with ring of long hairs around corona and sometimes spreading on to base of lobes, hairs light violet, drying whitish; lobes triangular, dark violet-black, with rugose surface and smooth greenish-yellow tips. Corona arising slightly above base of staminal column, campanulate, 1-seriate in appearance; tube ±1.5 mm diam. and about equalling staminal column in height, outer margin obscurely 5-1obed; lobes 1 mm broad with notches in-between alternating with anthers; inner wall adpressed to staminal column and slightly cushion-like at base of anthers, representing inner corona-lobes.
