Slender non-succulent twining perennial with mostly deciduous aerial stems arising from a short thicker knobbly underground stem bearing a cluster of thickened white fusiform roots. Stems up to 0.5 m long, <1 mm thick, green to reddish, glabrous; leaves 20-35 mm long, 0.8-1.5 mm broad, canaliculate, linear, acute, glabrous except for very scattered hairs along midrib, green. Inflorescence glabrous, with 1-3 flowers opening in gradual succession, peduncle 6-7 mm long, <1 mm thick, spreading, with a single linear bract ±1 mm long at apex; pedicel 8-10 mm long, ±1 mm thick, ascending; sepals 2.5 mm long, <1 mm broad at base. Corolla 32-35 mm long, up to 10-11 mm broad, much inflated at base of slender tube, with lobes remaining fused at tips above mouth of tube; outside white with purple-grey mottling changing to grey-green; inside deep maroon in narrow part of tube becoming white around mouth with lobes white in lower half and maroon above, basal inflation brown-red with raised darker longitudinal ridges, with a few hairs along margins of lobes and a dense fringe along midrib as well as a dense ring of hairs around mouth of basal inflation; tube ±25 mm long, about 11 mm broad at mouth, 2.5 mm broad just above basal inflation which is 5-6 mm broad at most; lobes 9 mm long, tightly folded along midrib to be ±3 mm broad for most of length, obtuse. Corona ±3.8 mm tall, 4.5 mm broad, with only very short basal stipe; outer lobes ±2 mm tall, ± erect, deeply notched in centre into two ± deltoid lobules, yellow with maroon margins, with many straight hairs ±1 mm long along margins and on inner face; inner lobes 2.2-2.5 mm long, ±0.2 mm broad, adpressed to backs of anthers then rising together in column over centre of gynostegium, obtuse and slightly tuberculate at tips, pale yellow with maroon blotches near base, glabrous.
