Characteristics

Perennial herb. Tuber up to about 50 mm diam., somewhat depressed. Stem 60-80 mm high, simple or once-branched, pubescent. Leaves more or less ovate-lanceolate, 10-60 x 5-15 mm, tapering into a short petiole 2-5 mm long, minutely pubescent on both surfaces. Flowers solitary at the nodes, spreading to slightly nodding, shortly pedicel-1ed. Sepals shortly ovate-lanceolate, about 5 mm long. Corolla 15-25 mm long, shortly 5-1obed; tube ovoid-campanulate, slightly narrowed to the mouth, yellow outside with purple-brown mottling or entirely purple-brown, inside with long white hairs and minutely papillate; lobes ciliate with few clavate-vibratile, pale purple or rose-coloured hairs. Corona forming 5 pockets with bilobuled or V-shaped outer margin, confluent on lateral margins with inner lobes; inner lobes incumbent on staminal column, purple-brown. Pollinia subpyriform; caudicles short, carrier shortly winged.
