Characteristics

Perennial herb. Tuber 25-40 mm diam., somewhat depressed, sometimes partially exposed. Stems 1-few, sparsely branched from near base, spreading, 30-60 mm long, subglabrous or minutely puberulous. Leaves broadly ovate to lanceolate, up to about 15 mm long and broad, minutely pubescent or glabrescent. Flowers 1-2, extra-axillary, opening in succession. Sepals linear-lanceolate, up to 3 mm long, with few long hairs. Corolla 6-9 mm long, up to 18 mm diam., glabrous externally; tube campanulate, ±3 mm long, 6-7 mm wide; lobes triangular-ovate, 4-7 mm long, 4 mm broad at base, with recurved margins, mauve or with mauve blotches, with long white hairs on inner surface. Corona 2 mm high, with campanulate tube, forming 5 deep pockets with emarginate outer margin confluent with back of inner lobes; inner lobes incumbent on back of anthers. Pollinia about 0.3 mm long, subglobose or subpyriform, attached by short caudicles to light-coloured carrier.
