Characteristics

Perennial herb. Tuber 40-50 mm diam., depressed. Stems 1-few, slender, unbranched or sparsely branched near base, suberect or spreading, 20-50 mm long, pubescent with minute decurved hairs. Leaves subsessile, with the first ones broadest, ± elliptic-lanceolate to linear-acuminate, 10-20 mm long, glabrous or with few hairs on margin and lower surface. Flowers single, extra-axillary; pedicels slender, 10-15 mm long. Sepals linear, acuminate, 1.5-2.0 mm long, spreading-recurved. Corolla 3.5-4 mm long with short, slender beak, lobed nearly to base, with long, white hairs on basal area within; lobes united at tips, attenuate from the ovate base, purple. Corona purple, produced into 5 deeply divided outer lobes, lobules overtopping staminal column and with few long hairs; inner lobes incumbent on backs of anthers and not meeting. Pollinia subrotund, slightly compressed, with inner pellucid margin, shortly connected to carrier; carrier appears to be shortly winged.
