Leaves petiolate; blade obovate to very broadly obovate, 8-40 x 7-30 mm, base long-cuneate, apex obtuse, margins dentate to serrate-dentate in upper half; petioles 1-7 mm long. Flowers: in slender, many-flowered spikes 40-300 mm long; corolla with tube 20-30 mm long, lobes 4.0-4.5 mm long, white, cream-coloured, yellow; Oct.-Mar. Fruit with cocci separating spontaneously when ripe.
