Characteristics

Herba perennis (?), c. 45 cm alta, radicibus lignosis; caulis basi c. 4 mm diam. et ibidem simplex superne bene ramosus, subteres, e basibus foliorum decurrentibus anguste alatus, glaber, foliatus. Folia patentia, plerumque 50-80 x 10-17 mm, in ramulis inflorescentiae multo minora, elliptica, acuminata, in basin petiolarem angustata, glabra, marginibus integris. Flores in cymas laxas ramulos terminantes dispositi; pedicelli c. 8-15 mm longi, filiformes. Calyx c. 9 mm longus, fere ad basin divisus; segmenta lanceolata, longe acuminata, medio carinata. Corolla c. 1618 mm longa, alba, tubo 7-9 mm cylindrico in fauce leviter ampliato, lobis 9 x 3.25 mm lanceolatis acutis. Stamina c. 1.5 mm infra corollae sinus orientia; filamenta c. 2.5 mm longa; antherae 4 mm, rectae. Ovarium 5-6 mm longum; stylus 8-9 mm longus; stigma c. 1.5 mm longum, apice per 0.5 mm fissum. Capsula c. 10 x 4 mm, basi styli persistente coronata; semina c. 0.5 mm longa, testa profunde reticulata.

Perennial herb, up to 0.45 m high; stem simple at base, much branched upwards. Leaves decurrent at base of plant, patent, elliptic-acuminate, up to 80 x 70 mm, narrowed at base, apex acute. Flowers in lax cymes on terminal branchlets; pedicels 8-15 mm long, filiform. Corolla white, 16-18 mm long; tube 7-9 mm long, cylindrical; lobes lanceolate, apex acute. Stamens 5, inserted ± 1.5 mm below rim; anthers straight. Ovary narrowing into 8-9 mm long style. Fruit a capsule, with base of style persisting. Seeds with reticulate coat.
