Annual herb, branched, rather low-growing, up to at least 3 dm. tall, very viscid.. Stem profusely covered with glandular hairs or with stalked glands only, or glabrous.. Leaves petiolate, 5–7-foliolate; leaflets narrowly oblanceolate-linear to linear, 10–27 mm. long, 1–2 mm. wide, glandular-puberulous or subglabrous; petiole 1–3 cm. long.. Inflorescence up to 30 cm. long, with a few closely subcorymbosely arranged flowers at the top; rhachis elongating in fruit; bracts always much smaller than the leaves.. Sepals lanceolate, 4–5 mm. long, covered with small subsessile glands.. Petals 1.5–3 cm. long, long-clawed, magenta-pink, the upper pair yellow-spotted.. Stamens (6–)7(–8), unequal, glandular-pubescent towards the base.. Gynophore 1.5–2.5 cm. long, longer than the pedicel.. Capsules 7–9 cm. long, densely glandular.. Seeds 1–1.25 mm. in diameter, minutely puberulent (× 50 magnification), with many fine longitudinal striations and low transverse ridges.. Fig. 2/5.
