Annual herb up to 1 m. tall.. Stem sparsely or densely covered with short-or long-stalked glands.. Leaves petiolate, 3–5-foliolate; leafletsobovate to obovate-elliptic, (1.5–)2–3 cm. long, (0.6–)l–l.4 cm. wide, glandular-hairy on the nerves beneath, otherwise subglabrous; petiole up to 4 cm. long.. Inflorescence up to 15 cm. long; bracts small, simple.. Sepals linear or subulate, 4–6 mm. long, glandular.. Petals 7.5–13 mm. long, pinkish, the upper pair yellow-spotted.. Stamens 10; filaments unequal.. Gynophore usually short, sometimes up to 6 mm. long.. Capsules (5–)7–10 cm. long, with usually a few, but sometimes many, glands.. Seeds 0.8–1 mm. in diameter, with many low transverse ridges, the inturned end not ridged, but minutely rugulose (× 40 magnification).. Fig. 2/3, p. 10.
